Safe System of Work Planner (SSOWP)

Network Rail have withdrawn the 3 day SSOWP conversion course normally attended by candidates who already hold IWA / COSS. The requirement to complete the SSOWP pre-course assessment has also been withdrawn. All candidates will have to attend the 4 day initial course to gain the competency.

Who is this for?

Those who will undertake the duties of an SSOWP.

Learning Objectives

  • At the end of this course delegates will be able to:
  • Demonstrate the SWP planning process
  • Demonstrate Safe Systems of Work
  • Understand the roles in the planning process
  • Be able to source relevant information to produce a SWP
  • Plan a Line Blockage

What do you need to attend this course?

  • Must hold the required medical level and D&A
  • Have a good level of literacy.
  • Must provide valid photo ID
  • Must have a primary sponsor

What happens after I pass the course?

Your track safety card will be updated to include Probationary SSOWP

You must complete the SSOWP workplace assessment within 4 months
