Safe System of Work Planner (SSOWP)
Network Rail have withdrawn the 3 day SSOWP conversion course normally attended by candidates who already hold IWA / COSS. The requirement to complete the SSOWP pre-course assessment has also been withdrawn. All candidates will have to attend the 4 day initial course to gain the competency.

Those who will undertake the duties of an SSOWP.

- Demonstrate the SWP planning process
- Demonstrate Safe Systems of Work
- Understand the roles in the planning process
- Be able to source relevant information to produce a SWP
- Plan a Line Blockage
What do you need to attend this course?
- Must hold the required medical level and D&A
- Have a good level of literacy.
- Must provide valid photo ID
- Must have a primary sponsor
What happens after I pass the course?
Your track safety card will be updated to include Probationary SSOWP
You must complete the SSOWP workplace assessment within 4 months
