Summary

The Personal Track Safety (PTS AC DCCR) Course is the basic entry-level competence you need to work on the railway. This allows you to undertake various job roles, provided they do not involve you interfering with the rail infrastructure. Most employers will require you to hold this competence prior to offering a position. The PTS course is comprised of two components.

There is E-learning, followed by two days of classroom and practical training for AC and DCCR. Successful completion of the E-learning assessment is required prior to attendance on the practical training day. The aim of the course is to instruct delegates on correctly determining their responsibilities and duties when working on or near the line and demonstrate their understanding and ability to follow a Safe System of Work.
