Job Description
We have a new opportunity for a Traffic Engineer to undertake the design and implementation of traffic management schemes as part of the Transportation Team in Bedford.
Responsibilities;
Undertake the design of traffic management scheme from concept to detail design using local and national guidance and best practice.
Being up to date with new technology and using new ideas and innovative design solutions where practical.
Assisting the team members in developing design solutions.
Managing time and budgets to ensure compliance with programmed scheme delivery dates and costs of projects.
Advise and assist colleagues in developing designs including supervision of junior staff where required.
Attending scheme related meetings/exhibitions where necessary.
Preparation of Traffic Regulation Orders required for schemes.
Ensure compliance with the Integrated Management System and assist in its development
Supporting them in the preparation of bids and delivery of services on other contracts
Requirements
Qualifications/Knowledge & Skills:
(Essential to the job)
HNC/HND or degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering
Relevant highways related background
Full driving licence
Computer literate and conversant with MS Office software and Auto Cad
Good knowledge of Statutory Procedures
Good knowledge of Statutory Instruments and current relevant guidelines and advice
Good interpersonal and negotiation skills
High standard of numeracy
Good spoken and written communication skills
Estimating (Use of bills of quantities)
(Desirable)
Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
Membership of a relevant institution
Auto Cad qualification
The applicant must be able to:
Work with team members and liaise with the Transportation Manager/Principal Engineer.
Ensure the Health and Safety of everyone involved with or affected by our works.
Have the authority to order small scale works and services.
And Work as part of a team
Internal – working as ‘one team’ with the Network engineers for seamless design to construction. Liaising with other members of the Engineering Team, Client Project Managers, keeping the Transportation Manager updated of programme and progress.
External – Meetings as required with Client officers and others necessary to progress schemes
