Our client is a top agency working towards London to be a sustainable world city with strong, long-term economic growth, social inclusion and active environmental improvement. Their primary focus is on London and the people and therefore, is an exciting place to work. This is a three month contract.
They have an opportunity for a Procurement Officer, based in the procurement and resources department in the London office.
In this role you will be responsible for the procurement of office equipment and motor vehicles on a national basis plus manage the supply and distribution of our printed stationery. While some supply agreements are already in place you will have the opportunity to seek further cost reductions and efficiencies by reviewing alternative suppliers and contract negotiations.
To be successful in this role you will be educated to a degree or equivalent i.e. CIPS qualification and willingness to work towards attaining a full MCIP, possess sound working knowledge of the UK and EU procurement rules and regulations and procurement tools and techniques, in particular process management, negotiating, supplier management and specification writing. In addition, you will be computer literacy including proficiency in using project management, spreadsheet, database (such as G.I.S) and presentation software. Ability, or demonstrated capacity to acquire ability, to use specialised statistical software packages. Have a proven track record in working in multi-disciplinary, multi-agency projects with an understanding of how the GLA Group’s commitment to taking a strategic lead in combating discrimination and promoting equality of opportunity throughout London can be enhanced and supported by this role.
Coupled with the above you will have practical knowledge of negotiating grants/contracts for goods and services, background in the public sector in a local authority or similar, ability to work to tight deadlines with proven track record of identifying and co-ordinating internal and external resources that will be needed.
